Outside Tirana's Police Station No.3 and the Tirana court, parents of detained protesters describe police beatings during the anti-Rama protests: a 54-year-old father's student son was arrested on the sidewalk while heading for a taxi and sits in a cell with a broken nose and a battered face; a friend of his son's ended up in hospital after being hit with rubber batons; videos on Instagram show girls shouting at police to stop hitting two youths. "Arrestoje, por mos e qëllo në kokë" (arrest him, but don't shoot him in the head), he pleads through tears. Parents also speak of low wages, high cost of living, corruption and lack of prospects — the same reasons their children took to the streets — and demand an end to police violence against students. A BIRN reportage; also includes parents, pensioners and lecturers joining the protest solidarity.
